Welcome to the Tisch Department of Design for Stage and Film at New York University! Please take a brief tour of our facilites, housed in a spacious, light-filled, block-long design studio at 721 Broadway. Our Department houses two spacious studios for design work and course work; a fully stocked 24-dimmer lighting studio; a professional-quality costume shop; a computer lab for CAD drafting, research, and other computer-related work; and a one-of-a-kind library full of design-, history- and art-related books. In addition, immediately adjacent to our facilities, our students share theatrical spaces in collaboration with the Departments of Graduate Acting, Dance and Undergraduate Drama.
Production facilities include a 200 seat ballroom theatre and a 100 seat open theatre at 111 2nd Avenue. These theatres are supported by a scene shop, prop and paint shop, metal and electrics shop at 2nd Avenue. The Broadway building includes four small open theatres, one with fixed seats. The costume shop with a view, occupies the rear of the 3rd floor at 721 Broadway.
As members of the larger NYU community, students have access to Bobst library, one of the largest open-stack research libraries in the nation; a large sports and recreation facility; and state-of-the-art computer and multimedia labs.
