October 2009 Update
Campbell Baird
is designing scenery for Fabuloso, a new play for Merrimack Repertory Theatre, opening in January 2010. He is also the scenic and costume designer for a new ballet version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream for Nashville Ballet, opening April 2010.
John Conklin
is designing sets for Carmen at Boston Lyric Opera, opening November 2009.
M. L. Geiger
is lighting Rock and Roll at ACT in Seattle, opening October 15. She is also lighting Morphoses: The Wheeldon Company at Sadler’s Wells Theatre, London, October 22-25 and City Center, NYC, October 29 – November 1.
Andy Jackness
just designed sets for Bye Bye Birdie for the Roundabout, and earlier in the summer did a pilot for FX called Lights Out.
Susan Hilferty
is on sabbatical for the fall semester 2009. She recently opened a production of The Creditors by August Strindberg at La Jolla Playhouse and is working on a New Musical, Wonderland, opening on November 24 at Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center.
Christine Jones
is working on THEATRE FOR ONE in Times Square, opening Spring 2010. She is also in planning for a 10-day residency featuring multiple performances in the heart of Duffy Square.
John McKernon
will be in Holland the end of October/beginning of November, for the Dutch tour of Chicago.
Curt Ostermann
recently designed the lighting for a large event for IBM that took place at the Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center.
Martin Pakledinaz
opened David Hare's The Breath of Life, with Stockard Channing and Jane Alexander, at the Westport Country Playhouse. It was directed by Mark Lamos and Robert Wierzel was the lighting designer. He is designing costumes for The Lady with All the Answers, a play by David Rambo about Ann Landers, and starring Judith Ivey, which is opening at the Cherry Lane Theatre. The director is B.J. Jones. Rehearsals start on Shakespeare's As You Like It, directed by Maria Aitken for the Shakespeare Theatre, Washington D.C.
David Stein
production designed the movie Tickling Leo, which is just out on DVD. He also coproduction designed the movie The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond, with Richard Hoover, which will be at the Hamptons Film Festival this month. This movie has an original screenplay by Tennessee Williams, and is directed by Jodie Markell. Starting Monday David will be art directing the movie Black Swan, designed by Thérèse DePrez and directed by Darren Aronofsky.
Paul Steinberg
has two shows in rehearsal, Don Giovanni at New York City Opera and Casanova's Homecoming at Minnesota Opera. He recently presented designs for the Welsh National Opera production of Die Meistersinger and will go to Vienna mid-October to present designs for La Finta Giardiniera. He also supervised the revival of Wozzeck in Cardiff.
Robert Wierzel
is in technical rehearsals and previews with Fela!, his Broadway musical, the entire month of October. It is directed and choreographed by Bill T. Jones.
Christopher Young
just won a major award for his Harry Winston jewelry collection. The "Tattoo" collection has won the “Best Design of 2009" Robb Report Best of the Best Awards.
